This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website or buy from us, what we do with it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Goldenhands is the trading name of Goldenhands Gift Shop Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 13875293. Our registered office is 39 High Street, Battle, East Sussex, TN33 0EE, and our shop is at 30 George Street, Hastings, TN34 3EA.

We decide how the information we collect is used, which makes us its controller under UK data protection law. If you have a question about your information, email contact@goldenhands.co.uk or call 01424 439674.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, delivery and billing addresses, email address, phone number and what you bought. Payments are handled by Shopify's checkout and our payment providers.
  • If you create an account: your login details and order history.
  • When you contact us: what you tell us by email, phone, Facebook or our contact form.
  • When you join our newsletter: your email address.
  • When you use the website: information about your device, browser and IP address, the pages you look at and what you search for, collected through cookies and similar technology.

We need your name, address and email to take and deliver your order. Without them we can't sell to you online.

How we use it

  • To take payment, pack and deliver your order, and handle returns. We need this to carry out our contract with you.
  • To run your account, if you create one. We need this to carry out our contract with you.
  • To reply when you get in touch. This is in our legitimate interest in looking after our customers.
  • To send you our newsletter, if you've signed up for it. This is with your consent, and every email has a link to unsubscribe.
  • To see how people use the website so we can improve it, and to show our adverts on other websites and social media. We only do this if you agree to cookies in our cookie banner.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the website secure. This is in our legitimate interest.
  • To keep the records the law requires, such as tax records.

Who we share it with

  • Shopify, which runs our online shop and checkout.
  • Payment providers, to take your payment.
  • Delivery companies such as Evri, to deliver your order.
  • Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Pinterest, for website statistics and advertising.
  • Companies that provide tools we use on the website, such as the search box.
  • The police, HMRC or other authorities, when the law requires it.

Sending information abroad

Some of these companies keep information outside the UK, including in Canada and the United States. When they do, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law. Email us if you'd like details.

How long we keep it

  • Order records: at least six years, because tax law requires it.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
  • Messages: as long as we need to deal with your question.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Some are needed for the basket and checkout to work. Others, from Google, Meta and Pinterest, measure visits and help show our adverts. We only use these if you agree to them in our cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, stop using it or send it to another organisation. You can withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our newsletter. Email contact@goldenhands.co.uk and we'll reply within a month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This website isn't meant for children under 16.
