Father's Day gifts with a bit of drama

Some Father's Day shelves are quiet, and some have dragons, reapers and a mug that sounds faintly dangerous. Nemesis Now is a British company based in Stoke-on-Trent, founded in 2003.

Dragons for the desk

Nemesis Now makes cold-cast resin figurines and giftware and describes its own products as hand-painted. The Father's Day dragon corner has A Tale of Dragons 22cm, Swordwing Dragon, and Dragon's Grasp Mechanical Dragon On A Skull Figurine.

The red dragon of Wales has its oldest written reference around AD 820-829 in the Historia Brittonum. The tale of two dragons fighting beneath Vortigern's tower was told by Geoffrey of Monmouth in the 12th century.

Those old dragon stories are folklore, and the shelf dragons are ornaments. A desk only needs room for wings, claws and a small amount of resin drama.

Mugs with a mouth on them

Drink At Your Own Risk Mug has the warning built into the name. Gardener of the Year Pot Mug and Shovel Spoon has its own tiny shovel spoon.

Mugs like these are simple objects with a bit of character printed in the title. One belongs near the kettle, and one sounds as if it has come in from the shed with compost on its boots.

Goldenhands stocks Something Different Wholesale mugs, candles and holders among its gift ranges.

A burner and a wallet

The Wisest Dryad Tree Spirit Green Man Backflow Incense Burner belongs with backflow cones. A backflow cone is hollow, and the smoke cools as it travels down the hollow inside the cone.

Cool smoke is denser than the warm air around it, so it sinks out of the hole at the bottom and pours down the burner's carved slope.

Danegeld Viking Black Wallet with Decorative Chain is a black wallet with a decorative chain in the name. It sits on the practical side of the shelf, beside the mug and the burner.
